ARAG Spain Appoints New CEO
Betina Nickel Succeeds Mariano Rigau
The Board of Management of ARAG SE has appointed Betina Nickel as the new CEO of ARAG Spain in Barcelona. She will take over the management of ARAG’s legal insurance and assistance business in Spain and Portugal. Betina Nickel will assume her new role on May 1, 2025, succeeding Mariano Rigau, who will retire at that time.
In her new position, Betina Nickel returns to ARAG SE. Most recently, she was a member of the Executive Board of ÖRAG Rechtsschutzversicherungs-AG and Deutsche Assistance Versicherung AG. Before joining ÖRAG, she held various positions at ARAG SE since 2006. Prior to leaving ARAG in 2021, she served as Senior Vice President of the Cooperation and Online Sales/International Sales and Product division. “We are delighted that Betina Nickel is continuing her successful career at ARAG. We never lose sight of our top performers. In Spain, she will lead one of our largest international units with more than 700 employees,” says Dr. Renko Dirksen, Speaker of the Board of Management of ARAG SE. ARAG recently generated premium income of €200 million in Spain and Portugal and is the market leader in legal insurance in this region.
After 19 successful years at the helm of ARAG Spain and more than 30 years in the financial sector, Mariano Rigau will step down from management upon reaching the retirement age. Due to his significant contributions to ARAG’s Spanish business and his extensive expertise, he will continue to support the company in an advisory role during a transitional period. “The ARAG Group owes Mariano Rigau a great debt of gratitude,” emphasizes Dr. Renko Dirksen. “He has significantly expanded our business in Spain and developed ARAG Spain into one of our most successful international units. His dedication to the long-established ARAG Spain is exemplary.”
All personnel changes at ARAG Spain are subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities.
