Dr. Matthias Effinger appointed to the Board of ARAG Krankenversicherungs-AG

Dr. Matthias Effinger (47) has been appointed to the Board of ARAG Krankenversicherungs-AG by the company's Supervisory Board. Effective 1 April 2019, he will take charge of the newly created department responsible for Customer Service and Claims, Legal Affairs/Compliance, Business Organization and Central Services, among other matters.

In addition to his current function as head of the ARAG SE – Direktion für Österreich, Dr. Matthias Effinger will begin familiarizing himself with his new duties as Chief Representative of ARAG Krankenversicherungs-AG on 1 January 2019. He will then replace Werner Nicoll (64) on the Board of ARAG Krankenversicherung effective 1 April. Werner Nicoll will be resigning from the Board upon reaching retirement age in 2019.

His duties as Board Member for Finance at ARAG Krankenversicherung will be assumed by Dr. Roland Schäfer (51), who is also responsible for Actuarial Services, Product Development and Sales. Board-level responsibility for Human Resources and Risk Management will remain in the hands of Dr. Werenfried Wendler (59).

Dr. Matthias Effinger began his career at ARAG in 2003 as a project manager within the context of the Group’s international operations. He was named Senior Vice President, Group International at ARAG Group headquarters in 2006. He was appointed to the Board of the company then known as ARAG Belgium S.A. in 2008. Dr. Matthias Effinger has headed the ARAG SE – Direktion für Österreich since 2012. His successor at ARAG Austria will be named at the appropriate time.
