Incorporation
ARAG USA was originally founded in 1973 as a division of Midwest Mutual Insurance Company and began creating, marketing and administering a new group legal product. In 1989, ARAG purchased the organization and created ARAG Insurance Company.


Growth and development
ARAG USA focuses on four strategic pillars to grow our business, provide an excellent customer experience and make it a great place to work. ARAG USA is proud to receive significant national recognition for customer service excellence and for our culture and workplace including the following prestigious awards:

• ARAG’s Customer Care Center has long been regarded as a “Center of Excellence” by BenchmarkPortal, receiving this honor 13 times, most recently in 2023. The Center of Excellence award is one of the most respected in the customer service and support industry.
• ARAG USA has also been chosen as a "Top Workplace USA" in 2023. The company was awarded a Top Workplace USA honor in 2021 and named an Iowa Top Workplace in 2020 and 2022. In addition, ARAG was recognized within the Financial Services sector for five additional Culture Excellence Awards in 2023.

ARAG USA headquarters are based in Des Moines, Iowa. In the United States. ARAG USA occupies a leading position in the legal insurance market and helps make dealing with legal matters more affordable – and less stressful.

Whether our customers are planning ahead for something in life, like buying a home or getting married, or face something unexpected, like a traffic ticket or caring for an aging parent, ARAG Legal Insurance connects them with local network attorneys to help resolve their legal issue. Our plans cover more legal issues and pay 100 percent of network attorney fees for most covered matters. ARAG also offers additional services including identity theft protection and recovery, caregiving solutions, financial counseling and tax assistance.
